微软宣布已经完成了Small Business Server 2008（SBS 2008）软件的各项配置，计划在今年11月12日开始出货 。
基于Windows Server 2008的Small Business Server 2008软件还包括Exchange Server 2007、SharePoint Services 3.0、Windows Server Update Services 3.0、Forefront Security for Exchange Server、Windows Live OneCare for Server以及与Office Live Small Business的集成 。
代号为Cougar的SBS 2008软件适用于计算机台数在50台左右的企业，分为标准版和Premium版 。
微软删除掉了套件中的Internet Security and Acceleration Server (ISA)，取而代之的是Forefront Security for Exchange Server Small Business Edition和Windows Live OneCare for Server一年免费试用 。
【微软将于11月推出Small Business Server 2008】新增的Office Live Small Business提供了用来创建基础Web网站的工具，通过SharePoint在线共享文档，同时还引入了微软在线广告平台 。
今年五月，微软宣布了带有Windows Essential Business Server (EBS)的SBS 2008定价信息，这两个捆绑套件造成了Windows Essential Server Solutions产品系列 。
SBS 2008 Standard定价为1089美元，其中包括五个Client Access Licenses (CAL)，CAL的定价为每个77美元 。Premium版定价为1899美元，附加CAL为189美元 。
微软还表示将推出购买单个CAL的选配件计划 。在此之前，用户必须一次购买5个一组的套装 。另外，CAL还可以用于在Essential之外运行的Windows Server、SQL Server以及Exchange Server的副本 。(ZDNet编译)
